How We Can Help

Women's health conditions we treat

One-on-one consultations with Lisa at our Wānaka clinic. Initial appointments are 60 minutes, allowing time for thorough assessment and personalised treatment planning.

Urinary Incontinence

Assessment and treatment for stress incontinence (leaking with coughing, sneezing, or exercise), urge incontinence, and mixed presentations. We identify contributing factors and develop targeted rehabilitation programmes to restore bladder control.

Pregnancy & Postnatal Care

Support throughout your pregnancy journey and beyond. We help prepare your body for birth, address pregnancy-related discomfort, and guide postnatal recovery including pelvic floor restoration and safe return to exercise.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Conservative management of bladder, uterine, and bowel prolapse through pelvic floor strengthening, lifestyle modifications, and pessary support. We help you understand your condition and optimise function.

Pelvic Pain

Comprehensive assessment of persistent pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis-related pain. Treatment addresses muscle tension, nerve sensitivity, and contributing factors using manual therapy, relaxation techniques, and graduated exercise.

Bowel Dysfunction

Treatment for faecal incontinence, constipation, and difficulty emptying. We assess pelvic floor coordination and develop strategies to improve bowel function and confidence.

Sexual Dysfunction

Sensitive, professional support for pain with intercourse, vaginismus, and other concerns affecting intimacy. Treatment focuses on reducing muscle tension, improving tissue health, and building confidence.

Pre & Post Gynaecological Surgery

Preparation and rehabilitation for gynaecological procedures including hysterectomy and prolapse repair. We optimise your pelvic floor before surgery and guide safe recovery afterwards.

Menopause-Related Changes

Support for pelvic floor changes during perimenopause and menopause. We address symptoms like increased urgency, dryness, and changes in bladder or bowel function with evidence-based treatment strategies.

Diastasis Recti

Assessment and treatment of abdominal separation following pregnancy. We develop safe, progressive exercise programmes to restore core function and address any associated symptoms.

Common Questions

What to expect

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first appointment is 60 minutes. Lisa will take a detailed history, discuss your symptoms and goals, and perform a thorough assessment. This may include an internal examination if appropriate and you consent. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's contributing to your symptoms and a treatment plan tailored to you.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed to see Lisa. You can book directly. However, if your symptoms are related to an accident (covered by ACC), a referral from your GP or another healthcare provider may allow for ACC funding of your treatment.

Is treatment covered by ACC?

Some pelvic health conditions may be covered by ACC if they result from an injury (such as birth injury). Lisa can help determine if your condition qualifies and guide you through the ACC process if applicable.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your condition and goals. Some women see significant improvement in 3-4 sessions, while others with more complex conditions may benefit from longer-term support. Lisa will give you an indication of expected timeframes at your first appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access for assessment. You may be asked to undress for the physical examination, but you'll be provided with appropriate draping and your privacy and comfort are always prioritised.

Can I bring someone with me?

Absolutely. You're welcome to bring a support person to your appointment if that makes you more comfortable. Just let us know when booking.
