Just Breathe!

Breathing is something we do automatically, but optimising your breathing patterns can significantly enhance your health and wellbeing.

Signs of Poor Breathing Patterns

Several indicators may suggest inadequate breathing patterns, including:

  • Panic attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Dizziness
  • Concentration difficulties
  • Insomnia
  • Tingling in extremities
  • Bloating
  • Breathlessness
  • Dry mouth upon waking
  • Headaches

Three Simple Ways to Improve Your Breathing

1. Nasal Breathing

Use your nose as your body's natural air filter. Nasal breathing helps warm, humidify and filter the air before it reaches your lungs, promoting more efficient oxygen exchange.

2. Relaxation

Reduce tension in your neck and shoulders. When these muscles are tight, they can encourage mouth breathing and shallow chest breathing rather than deep, diaphragmatic breathing.

3. Pre-Sleep Breathing Routine

Spend five minutes before bed practising gentle, belly-focused breathing. This simple routine can help calm your nervous system and prepare your body for restful sleep.
